Writer. Speaker. Friend.

Inspire your group.

I’m on a mission to create a more equitable and inclusive publishing industry, and I do that by (well, a lot of things including) speaking to audiences and sharing how the book publishing process works.

As a publishing executive, I helped create bestsellers, and I want to share what I’ve learned about audience with your audience.

As a business speaker, I help executives and entrepreneurs understand how publishing a book is good for business, and share with corporate audiences leadership strategies on how to create joy and purpose in the workplace.

Whether it's keynotes, after-dinner talks, author events, book clubs, or popular stand-alone workshops, I'm a sought-after speaker inspiring audiences in-person and via Zoom at Harvard Business School, Book Expo America, Case Western Reserve University, the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference, Jewish Book Council Writers Conference, the Writer’s Digest Annual Conference, and at book stores and libraries across the nation.

I’d love to speak to your audience.

Empowering writers to connect, create, and understand.

Writing isn’t just about typing our words onto the page. Writing is about connecting with the reader, with the work, with each other.

My experience in journalism and books has shown me that publishing is an intimate, collaborative art form.

I’m honored to be named as the 2024 Writer in Residence at the William N. Skirball Writers’ Center, Cuyahoga County Public Library. My focus in residency is to inspire writers to understand their work through the lenses of community, craft, and commerce.

As the co-writer of the New York Times recommended memoir, UNCULTURED (St. Martin’s Press), I co-parented a book into life that the world needs. As the President Emeritus of Literary Cleveland, I invest in my community to develop writers and amplify their voices.

Whether it’s on the page in my own work or coaching writers, I know we need each other. That knowledge powers what I do.

I’d love for you to join me.
